
DIY Lip balm
With the winter settling in the skin tends to get dry and it needs extra hydration to avoid having chapped lips. How to take care of them during the cold months of the year? What is better than making your own, custom-made lip balm? It is easy and fun, it may get a little messy but the result is great.
It is important to use good quality products in order to benefit fully from their properties. Essential oils can be added (optional) for creating unique and personalized lip balms which are the perfect gift for a friend, the school teachers, mother’s day, or for yourself! Bear in mind that citrus essential oils are photosensitive and you should avoid sun exposure at least 12 hours after using them.
Ingredients:
15g Cacao butter
15g Shea butter
20g Coconut oil
15g Bee & Jasmine wax
1tsp Raw honey (optional)
10ml Jojoba/ Olive/ Avocado/ Sweet Almond oil
2 drops Vitamin E
Essential oils (Optional)
5 drops Vanilla
5 drops Lavender
3 drops Spearmint
Instructions:
Put all the oils and the wax in a double boiler or glass bowl over a small saucepan filled with water and fully melt them on low heat while stirring with a wooden stick or spoon. Let it cool down for 10min and add the raw honey and the essential oils. Mix well and pour carefully into empty lip balm tubes or tin containers. Allow the mixture to set and Voilà ! You have your homemade lip balm. Enjoy!
